Hi there, dance friends!
Before sharing what's coming this fall, I want to start with a quick, heartfelt thank-you. Thank you to our dance team, our students, our families, and the many communities, instructors, organizers, venues, and friends we've collaborated with over the years. Every person who has taught with us, danced with us, supported an event, shared our work, or welcomed us into their community has become part of the Flying Dance journey. And what a journey it continues to be.

New Dance Season. More Oppotunities To Dance
Our Biggest Fall Dance Season Yet
We're coming to the end of our summer schedule, and this fall represents a significant new chapter for Flying Dance Community. We'll continue dancing in Guelph (new location), Milton, and Georgetown, while introducing our first full fall season in Brantford, Erin, Arthur, and Stratford.
That means more local dance floors, more welcoming places to meet people, and more ways to start dancing, return after a break, or keep growing without traveling as far from home.
To celebrate this pre-fall launch and the introduction of our newest communities, and in response to a lot of customer requests. We're holding a special one-week BOGO Fall Launch Sale.

Experience the Community Before Fall Begins
Before our regular fall classes begin, we'll host several Dance Open Houses and Next Step Socials across our communities.
Our Dance Open Houses are an easy way to experience Flying Dance before committing to a full class block. You can try a beginner-friendly lesson, meet the local teaching team, see the venue, ask questions about classes and levels, meet other people from your community, and spend some time on a relaxed social dance floor. These evenings are for complete beginners, returning dancers, current students, and anyone curious about what our community feels like.
Our Next Step Socials give current students a place to practice what they're learning, filling the space between taking a class and feeling ready for a larger dance event. No nightclub pressure, no expectation that you already know how to dance, no need to arrive with a partner. Some Next Step Socials will also be designated as official Open Houses, so check the schedule for details in your community.
A Short [summer dance] Break Before Our Fall Return
Most of our regular weekly classes will finish near the end of July. We'll then take a short break through most of August before the full fall schedule begins near the end of August and start of September. Our Open Houses and selected community events will pause during this period too, and pick back up after.
This isn't a step away from dancing, it's a chance to reset. Behind the scenes, we'll use the break to prepare venues, instructors, class schedules, registration systems, and programs for the new dance year, and come back with a stronger foundation across all seven communities.

Group Classes Build the Foundation
Our regular group classes remain the foundation of the Flying Dance experience, where you learn the timing, movement, vocabulary, and partner skills that let you enjoy Salsa, Bachata, West Coast Swing, and our other styles.
But our goal isn't just to help people memorize more patterns. We want you to become comfortable in your body, responsive to your partner, connected to the music, and confident enough to dance with different people. For beginners, that journey starts with learning the essential steps and realizing you really can dance. For continuing students, it means gradually moving past "what comes next" and starting to understand how the dance actually works.
We've also recognized that experienced students need a different kind of learning environment, which brings us to something new.
Introducing Our Next Level Dance Workshops
Our new Next Level Dance Workshops fill the space between regular progressive classes and specialized instructor or performance training. They're built for Level 2+ students and experienced social dancers who already know our required benchmark steps comfortably and don't necessarily need another beginner class. They need time to explore how movement, connection, musicality, and combinations work together.
These workshops won't be choreography-focused. The goal is to develop confident social dancers — people who can listen, adapt, communicate, make choices in the moment, and dance in a way that feels natural rather than rehearsed. Topics will include:
Stronger connection and partner communication
Timing, weight transfer, and body movement
Musicality and interpretation
Natural transitions between movements
Social-dance combinations and personal choices
Floorcraft and awareness of other dancers
Confidence when dancing with different partners
Salsa and Bachata will have distinct curricula, since each style calls for its own movement qualities and social-dance skills. These workshops are for dancers starting to ask: How do I stop just doing the steps and start making the dance feel like my own?
More Dance Pathways Are Coming
The Next Level Workshops are one part of a larger learning pathway we're building. In the coming weeks, we'll share details on our Instructor Training and Performance Training schedules — two separate tracks with separate purposes.
Instructor Training is for dancers who want to learn how to teach, communicate clearly, lead a room, and help build healthy dance communities. Performance Training is for dancers interested in choreography, teamwork, rehearsal, and preparing material for an audience.
Not every strong social dancer wants to teach. Not every instructor wants to perform. You don't have to choose either path to keep becoming an excellent dancer. We're building different spaces for different goals, so you can decide where your own journey takes you. More details soon.
Why We're Doing This
As we teach across these communities, we keep seeing how dance changes people's lives: someone arrives alone and gradually becomes part of a group; a nervous beginner grows more confident; friendships form between people who might never have met otherwise. Sometimes the change is immediate. Sometimes it happens slowly, one class, one conversation, one dance at a time.
That's the real purpose behind this expansion. It's not just about teaching in more cities. It's about creating more places where people can find connection, movement, friendship, and belonging.
Thank You for Your Patience and Support
I want to close the way I started: with gratitude. Moving from one central studio to a network of local communities has required a lot of change — some visible, much of it quiet and behind the scenes. Thank you for your patience as we move into new venues, adjust schedules, and roll out new systems. Thank you for continuing to show up, sharing our events, inviting friends, and welcoming new dancers. Thank you to our team and families for the time and energy that make this work possible. And thank you to every organization, instructor, and venue that has collaborated with us along the way.
Most of all, thank you for trusting us to be part of your dance journey. Flying Dance Community wouldn't be growing without you. Whether you've been with us for years or are preparing for your first Open House, there's a place for you in this next chapter.
Enjoy the rest of your summer, visit an upcoming Open House, and take advantage of the one-week BOGO Fall Launch Sale while it's available.
See you on the dance floor!
Cheers, Nico Flying Dance Community Move More. Meet People. Feel Part of Something.
