It's kinda feels like the Summer is here - the nights are slightly chilly, but I am getting excited!

Hey there Dance Friends! How's everyone doing today? Excited about the warmer weather? I definitely am—really, really am, lol!

Warm weather in Ontario means outdoor fun, and for me, that means outdoor dancing! For the past 20 years, I've always been the organizer behind events like Moonlight Dancing and FDFest. This year, however, I'm thrilled to experience the joy of outdoor dancing purely as a guest!

So, event organizers, hurry up! Ontario's sunshine is calling! Tell me, where can I go dancing within a 45-minute drive? Cambridge, Kitchener, Waterloo, London, Hamilton, Niagara, and yes—even Guelph too (but not hosted by FDComm—stay tuned for more details coming soon!).

So organizers for the outdoor event, chap chap, hurry up! Ontario's sunshine is calling! Tell me, where can I go dancing within a 45-minute drive? Cambridge, Kitchener, Waterloo, London, Hamilton, and yes—Guelph too (but not hosted by FDComm (more details to come on a future newsletter).

To start, starting May 1st, FDComm will be celebrating it’s 21 years of dancing in the community. It’s sometimes hard to visualize that we have been teaching dance for that long. Our mission has always been building communities using dance as a vehicle. We are making strides towards that mission, and we hope you will continue this dance journey with us.

Celebrating Aga & Adriano, Nemanja & Rebecca: A heart warm farewell

Last winter, our Friday Night Salsa Fix got brighter when Aga and Adriano joined our family. Aga's remarkable ballroom skills and warm personality brought joy and connection to everyone around her. Originally from Poland and a dedicated scientist at the University of Guelph, Aga beautifully blends analytical thinking with her passion for dance.

Sadly, visa limitations mean Aga and Adriano will be returning to Poland at the end of April. But let's think of this as just a pause—not goodbye. As an immigrant myself, I understand their journey deeply. More on my own immigrant journey soon!

Honoring Nemanja Vukelic

Nemanja's journey with FDComm:
2016-17: Started, paused, restarted dance classes multiple times
2018-19: Committed fully, completing a year of dance
2019-20: Joined our volunteer team for FNSF events
2020-22: Embarked on an "underground Salsa" adventure
2022-25: Mastered our Salsa & Bachata syllabus, becoming one of Southern Ontario’s finest instructors

As of April 1, 2025, Nemanja has ventured out to create his own Salsa journey. I am incredibly proud and wish him all the best!

Farewell to Rebecca May

Rebecca, a phenomenal Bachata dancer and instructor, joined FDComm in 2023. Her elegant ladies styling and unique sensual energy brought something special to our community—something I couldn't provide myself, despite my best (and hilariously awkward) attempts. She’ll truly be missed by everyone, especially our dance "follows."

Welcoming New Instructor: Nyemu!

I’m thrilled to introduce Nyemu, coming from the vibrant world of Kizomba - KizoLove. Together with her husband Babs, she organizes one of Canada's largest Kizomba festivals. Having initially taught her Salsa alongside her brother and even performed together, it’s my great pleasure to officially welcome Nyemu back—this time as an instructor. Stay tuned for her formal introduction!
