Spotlight: Your Dance Year

Hi there, dance friends!
I hope summer is treating you well.
Like almost everyone I know, I have been busy, busy, busy—but I have made one small and very enjoyable change this year: I have gone outdoor dancing four times so far this summer, compared with none in 2025!
It has been wonderful to dance outside, reconnect with friends I have not seen in a long time and simply enjoy being part of the dance community again.
So, before summer disappears, I want to encourage you to make it out dancing at least once. Tomorrow is already August. Time really is flying.

Your Dance Journey With Flying Dance
What Will Your Year With Us Look Like?
As we prepare for another season, I have been thinking about what people are really joining when they register for classes with us.
Yes, you will learn Salsa, Bachata, West Coast Swing and other dance styles. You will work on your steps, timing, partner connection and becoming comfortable enough to dance without constantly looking at your feet.
But that is only part of the journey.
For many people, it begins at a Dance Open House.
You may arrive curious and a little nervous. You may come alone, with your partner or with a friend who finally convinced you to give dancing a try.
You may not know anyone yet, but that can change surprisingly quickly.

From there, you join a Level 1 or Level 2 class. At first you're learning where to put your feet. A few weeks later, you're recognizing faces, remembering names, feeling at home in the room. Some of the people you meet become practice partners, then familiar faces, then genuinely good friends, and that's been true for us too. We have students who joined years ago who are now personal friends, still showing up, still supporting new dancers. Others step away when life gets busy, and find their way back. Both are part of the journey.
That's why we build more than a series of lessons:
Your regular classes build your foundation. Next Step Socials give you a place to practise, reconnect and enjoy the community, even between class weeks. Next Level Dance Workshops grow your timing, musicality and confidence on the floor. Our dance-training and performance pathways are there if you want to go deeper.
You don't have to do all of it. One class a week is enough. Or the socials. Or workshops, performance, training — or a season off and a return later. The journey belongs to you. Our job is to make sure there's always a welcoming next step, and a community still here when you're ready for it.
