Hey there Dance Friends,
🎂 Did you know that Flying Dance Community turns 21 this month! 🎂 I am always surprised when the month of May comes along; I am never prepared to celebrate the studio’s birthday.
Why? For me, every week, every day is a celebration—I get to see smiling faces from my family, my dance friends, and ‘almost’ everyone I meet. From those first tentative steps back in 2004 to the thousands of spins we share every week, you have made any open space/floor a home filled with warmth, laughter, and friendships that stick. Every day is a new opportunity to learn something new. My dance training, business skills, and relationship-building knowledge all came from YouTube (est. 90%), the dance floor, and the real world - my dad had a great influence on me. I'm amazed by every new discovery, I loooove watching my kiddos grow (reflecting on how I grew up), and cherish hanging out with my partner—even when she's not in the mood to hang out with me, lol. Most of all, I treasure the smiles I see each time I teach, knowing everyone in that moment is having fun!
And while I may not always remember to bring balloons or bake a cake, I never forget how lucky I am to be part of something so special. This community—our dance community—has grown far beyond dance steps. It’s where strangers become partners, where confidence blossoms one count at a time, and joy multiplies the moment the music starts.

From those humble beginnings to today, we’ve seen dancers become instructors, shy beginners become confident performers, and lifelong friendships form on the dance floor. The Flying Dance Community has always been about connection, inclusion, and the pure joy of movement.
This May, even if I didn’t plan a big parade, we’re doing something even better—we’re dancing. Together.

Whether you've danced with us since the beginning or just took your first step recently, this celebration is yours.
